It was originally made by Rowntree's in York, United Kingdom, and is now produced by Nestlé all over the world, except in the United States where it is made under licence by the H. B. Reese Candy Company, which is a division of the Hershey Company. Its products and flavours can differ from country to country, depending on the country's test buds and trends.

As a result, not all of their product varieties/flavours are sold in every country.
